Children’s Quick and Easy Cookbook
Just when you think DK has published all the good cookbooks, you find one like the Children’s Quick and Easy Cookbook and realize they have done it again. Although this book is older than the other ones I have reviewed here, it’s just as good.
The book starts out with a picture table of contents and ends with a picture glossary in the back of the book. You get several pages that show a picture of the meal with it’s title and a short description making it easy to pick out what you want to make. The glossary in the back describes each cooking term along with a picture of what you do when you perform that task.
What I like about this book:
- There is a picture page with kitchen rules showing each safety rule and a picture of what that looks like. There is a child in each picture here too.
- Lots of big luscious pictures. There are pictures of all the ingredients and pictures of what you need to do for the steps of the recipe.
- The focus is on the food and the options you have in the look of the final presentation.
- There aren’t many dishes in the pictures of the food. They just show the biggest picture of the food that they can.
- Even though these are quick snacks and easy meals, they still use mostly wholesome ingredients.
- You get a better balance of meals and snacks rather than too many desserts.
What I don’t like about this book:
- Nothing! It’s inviting and well laid-out.
I wish all adult cookbooks were laid out in this easy format! Here is another winner from DK- The Children‘s Quick and Easy Cookbook. It gets a 5 star in my book. Even if your kids don’t want to use this cookbook, you’ll find yourself being drawn to this one and picking it up often.
