Easy Kid Recipes – Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
Homemade Chicken Noodle soup doesn’t sound like an easy kid recipe does it? We have found a way to make this recipe to where it tastes like homemade but doesn’t require a lot of work. This way we also avoid buying the canned soups which are loaded with MSG and other chemicals and very expensive.
My younger 2 children love to cook and my older 2 children love it when they make this tasty soup for them for lunch. You can add some bread and raw vegetables that you have cut like carrots, peppers and cucumbers.
All you have to do is start boiling some water – about 4-6 cups depending on how many people you are serving.
Once the water is boiling, add any kind of noodles that you like – about 2 cups depending on how thick or thin you like your soup. We like ours full of noodles:)
Add:
1 T poultry seasoning or some kind of chicken flavoring without MSG (good luck finding that!)
1-2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
You can add some leftover cooked vegetables here if you like.
My son likes to add a little basil and thyme when he is cooking this soup – he’s 7.
After all this has cooked for about 5 minutes add 1 can of chicken breast. We get ours at Aldi.
Then just keep cooking until the noodles are done and you have homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and an easy kid recipe you can add to your file.
I mentioned above that I have a hard time finding chicken soup seasoning that does not contain MSG. Some that mention they have no MSG usually have “autolyzed yeast extract” or “soy protein”. These are just other names for MSG and should be avoided too. If you want more information on MSG and why you should avoid it you can check these sites – http://www.rense.com/general67/msg.htm and http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/msg.html.
MSG isn’t too hard to avoid. You just need to read labels and know what you’re looking for and then be creative about finding alternatives.
Let me know if you make this homemade chicken noodle soup and how your family liked it….
