Kids Food Network

Do you think they should have a kids Food Network? I do. Children can learn so much from watching all those cooking shows. I think they should produce more shows with kids in mind. Maybe they have kids shows and I just don’t know about them.

Even without kids shows, my children have learned many valueable skills from watching Food Network. My son knows how to interact with a television audience. When he is cooking you always hear him say, “We’ll be right back on Food Network.” Then a few minutes later he says, “We’re back on in 5-4-3-2-1. Welcome back to Food Network.” I used to think he was talking to me, but he was really talking to his “television audience.”

Seriously, the hosts on most of the shows make cooking fun and make it look easy. It’s great that kids have that example. They show kids how to cook with a plan and an organized kitchen. They are given a greater vision for cooking than taking something out of a box and throwing it in the microwave.

Ace of Cakes is a favorite at our house. My children love building and creating things and the Ace of Cakes is the ultimate in creativity. They show you how to take an idea that seems impossible and use a lot of thought and hard work to make the idea into a real cake.

The competition shows show kids how the cometitors have to budget their time and efforts. They show short cuts that you can use in cooking and also about how to get along with difficult people. I like the fact that the shows use real ingredients and show kids how food is made from scratch and not out of a box.

I have encouraged parents before to have their kids watch Food Network if they don’t enjoy working in the kitchen. It can help the children develop an interest in cooking and to see how fun cooking and baking can be. I know this has worked in my family.

Maybe they don’t have a kids Food Network because their audience would not support that type of show. I know it would get watched here and that kids could have some real fun watching other kids cooking.
