Mom and Me Cookbook Review
These cookbook reviews have been fun. The one I looked at today was Mom and Me Cookbook by Annabel Karmel. The subtitle states “Have Fun in the Kitchen!” This one is also published by DK (Dorling Kindersley).
I’m finding that DK seems to be my favorite kid cookbook publisher. Pretty much any book of theirs that I review I like. This one is no different. With lots of pictures and a good variety of recipes, this children’s cookbook gets a 5 star in my book.
What I liked about the book:
- Lots of pictures. Every recipe has at least 3 pictures and some have up to 7 pictures.
- They show you a picture of the each utensil you will need along with a picture of each activity you will be doing such as puree, simmer, whisk, etc.
- The instructions are in simple language that most early readers should be able to read.
- They show you a picture of exactly what ingredients you will need.
- The children in the pictures are doing most of the cooking and eating. They look like they are having lots of fun, and they don’t look all that old.
- You get all kinds of ideas of how to decorate your food and make it look even more fun. My son wants to make the potato mice. They are twice baked potatoes with raisin eyes, cherry tomato noses, chives for whiskers, radish slices for ears, and green onions for tails.
What I didn’t like about the book:
- Not much. They had about half meals and the other half of the book is sweets. They might have added more meals and less desserts.
If you have a young child who likes lots of pictures or an early reader, they should enjoy this book. This book is even easy for me to use. I wish all recipes would be listed in this way. It would make cooking so much easier.
I highly recommend you get the Mom and Me Cookbook! Let me know what you think of it.
