Once a Month Cooking Dropout Tells Her Story
Once a Month Cooking is a wonderful idea for people who like to have 30 things going at one time. I like to focus one meal and still stock my freezer. Another aspect of Once a Month cooking that bothered me was that it didn’t make sense to spend the time preparing a meal and then only have one of those meals to put in the freezer. This is the story of how I got over 50 meals in the freezer when I was over 7 months pregnant and had 2 toddlers too.
Those meals got into freezer without any conscious planning on my part and with very little extra effort. During the last few months of my pregnancy I just cooked a quadruple meal once a week. I had been on 12 weeks of bedrest during the middle of my pregnancy, so I wasn’t exactly in shape.
One day I decided to count how many meals I had in the freezer. I was completely shocked to find that I collected 50 meals with so little extra effort.
I like this Smart Way system because I can do it as little or as much as I want to. I can cook two or three quadruple meals a week for a while and not cook any freezer meals for a couple of months if I don’t feel like it. This system is so adaptable to my needs.
I had been using Smart Way cooking early in my pregnancy but then had to stop while I was on bedrest. I was able to pick up where I left off after I was off bedrest.
If you want a more simplified approach to Once a Month Cooking where you can focus on one meal instead of 30 at one time, then I encourage you to try your hand at a few quadruple meals. If you need some guidance and recipes, Smart Way cooking is a cheap and simple way to get started.
