The Spatulatta Cookbook Review
Next I’m going to review the cookbook called The Spatulatta Cookbook by Isabella and Olivia Gerasole. The subtitle states “Recipes for kids, by kids, from the James Beard award-winning spatulatta.com website.”
The book was published by 2 young sisters who happen to be Italian. They were asked to host the website spatulatta.com where kids teach kids how to cook. What a concept!
The book is a hardback spiral bound book with nice thick pages. It is divided into Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, Vegetarian and Snacks. The beginning of the book starts out with basic skills you need with pictures. Then it tells you the tools you need (with pictures) and even a page with measurement equivalents. The back of the book has a glossary of terms (with pictures, yeah!).
What I like about the book:
- Everything!
- Recipes are made from real ingredients
- There are great pictures, not only of the finished product, but of the steps you need to take to make the recipe.
- They make the dishes look so good. There are lots of fun ideas in the book of how to dress up your food and make it look decorative.
- They have a little encouraging quote in a bubble for each recipe from one of the girls.
- There are lots of pictures of the girls cooking, mixing, measuring, and having fun!
What I didn’t like about the book:
- Nothing really. Maybe they could have given you a list of ingredients you need to buy to make all the recipes in the book….
This is a great kids cookbook. Your children can look through here and see all the fun and decorative ideas these girls are using and be inspired to do them too. The book is well laid out and the pictures make cooking look like so much fun.
I’d love to meet these girls some day! Get the book….
