The Toddler Cookbook Review

Here’s another cookbook from Annabel Karmel called The Toddler Cookbook also published by DK. Although not as fun and well laid out as the Mom and Me Cookbook, this is still at least a 4 star in my book.

The book begins with an introduction of the author complete with a few pictures showing her doing different cooking tasks like melting chocolate and whisking egg whites. The utensil page is a little scattered and busy, but maybe they have researched and found that is what toddlers like.

What I like about this book:

  • Each recipe has at least 4 pictures showing the steps to take to make the recipe.
  • They used toddlers or young children in each of the pictures actually doing the cooking tasks.
  • The recipes use real ingredients and try to use as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
  • You get lots of ideas on how to make your recipe look festive and fun for the final presentation.
  • As an added bonus you get extra ideas of how to have a cooking party. These ideas can be used for any type of kid party.
  • The pages showed mom’s interaction but most of the focus was on the kids doing the cooking and decorating.

What I didn’t like about this book:

  • The pages were a little busy.
  • The ingredients were not pictured, just listed on the page.
  • A little too much focus on desserts. Then again, toddlers need to start cooking somewhere and desserts are a good place to start.

The Toddler Cookbook is another good cookbook published by DK and written by Karmel. It’s a great way to get kids started cooking by showing them some recipes that can make with Mom showing lots of pictures of other kids their age cooking.
